EZID

EZID is a persistent identifier registration service that makes it easy to create and manage long-term, globally unique identifiers. It is a primary method for University of California campuses to create DataCite DOIs for research outputs like datasets and software. The service also enables both UC campuses and other users to create and manage Archival Resource Keys (ARKs) for their digital collections.

EZID is a critical component supporting the CDL’s own activities, providing DOIs for services such as the DMPTool and eScholarship, as well as stable ARK identifiers for the vast array of digital materials it preserves, including in services like Merritt and Calisphere. This infrastructure helps libraries, data repositories, and cultural heritage organizations ensure their content is citable, meets funder mandates, and has stable, long-term access. For more details about the service, please visit the EZID site – https://ezid.cdlib.org.
